Why can I only initially set three goals?

In GoalsUnlimited.com there is no limit (GoalsUnlimited) to the amount of goals you can set yourself – but it’s all about priorities. Our advice is set and get focussed on your top three goals first before you move on to setting more goals. It is pretty much like the 20/80 rule. 20% of your goals will give you 80% of your happiness/success. So first focus on what is most important.

We never have time to go everything in life, but we always have time to do the most important things. Try getting results in your top three most important goals first. In GoalsUnlimited.com you can also hit the “Create New Goal” button and add as many new goals as you like. Once you achieve your most important goals make sure you go back and keep setting more and more.

What is the difference between goals, strategies and baby steps?

Goals: We have made these broad categories such as Health, Financial and Family to keep the process simple. But you can over write these in the wheel (“What are my top goal categories?”) stage of GoalsUnlimited.com. For example in Health, you may like to set more specific goals such “Be able to run 10 kms in 40 minutes”. You may notice that in GoalsUnlimited.com we ask you to rate yourself out of 10 in each of your goal categories. This provides a useful benchmark score to then improve on.

Strategies: These are the specific things that you need to do that will allow you to achieve your goals. For example, in Health, “Go to the gym 3 times a week for 45 mins”, “Run at lunch times twice a week for 10 kms” or “”Drink 8 glasses of water each day”. The key question to generate strategies is to ask yourself “What specifically needs to change or be different for you to achieve your goal?”. Or using our scoring out of 10 approach, “What specifically needs to change or be different for your score to go up in your goal category?” But click the “Strategy Ideas” button or asking Goal Retriever, GoalsUnlimited.com will provide you with some ideas of strategies to get you going.

Baby Steps: These are small easy actions that ideally don’t take any more than 15 mins to do. They should be so small to do that you can’t fail at them. The smaller the steps the better, as it will give you confidence that you are making progress. Baby steps are subcategories of strategies. The key question to ask here to generate baby step ideas is: “What small steps need to happen for me to achieve my strategies?” For example: “Ring the gym to get some information sent out”, “Ask Bob if he wants to go running with you”, or “Allocate some time in your diary this week to go buy some new running shoes”.

What is the benefit of me setting baby steps?

Baby steps are subcategories of strategies. Baby steps are important in creating success habits that you can’t fail at. The smaller the steps the better, as it will give you confidence that you are making progress. And progress breeds habits which give birth to success.

In GoalsUnlimited.com you can simply create baby steps in your “My Life Plan” by clicking on the red “Baby Steps” button and then the “Add Baby Steps” button. You’ll find a box will open that you can set baby steps in with automated reminders, just like strategies.

You can then click the “Quick Action List” link in the control panel on the right hand side of “My Life Plan” to open up a chronologically ordered list of your next most urgent actions.

How can I increase the chances of achieving my goals?

It has been said that the difference between millionaires and billionaire is that millionaires look at their goals once a day, whereas billionaires review their goals three times a day. So part of the key is engraining your vision and goals and strategies into your subconscious and very cell of you body. And this is done through frequency of knowing specifically what you need to do which then leads to habits.

This is why initially GoalsUnlimited.com forces you to set email reminders for yourself. Its then up to you to make sure you conditional your mind and read then every time they arrive in your email box.

Make sure you also printout your “My Life Plan” to have a paper version and it keep handy all the time. You can get a lot of satisfaction ticking off your goals – but just remember to make sure you update or modify your very own “My Life Plan” in GoalsUnlimited.com. Put your steps into your diary and block out “time units” in advance to get your strategies and baby steps done.

Organise a friend, and create your very own “buddy” coaching system to make sure you keep each other on track. Don’t forget to set up a reward for yourself once you accomplish a major goal. This will also help keep you motivated. There are endless ideas to help keep you motivated and achieving more. The limit to ideas is only your imagination.
